Tax revenue exceeds Rs. 427 billion from January to April 2021

Analysts pointed out that the growth in money spent on public servants’ salaries and pensions in the first four months of this year exceeded the growth in tax revenue during that period.

According to the Central Bank, tax revenue has increased by 18.7 billion rupees from January to April this year to 427.26 billion rupees.

Expenditure on public servants’ salaries and pensions increased by 27.7 billion rupees to 361.3 billion rupees during the same period, according to Central Bank data.

Accordingly, 84.6 percent of tax revenue has been spent on public servants’ salaries and pensions.

The number of public servants in 2020 increased by 61,000 to 1.5 million from the previous year.
